Kaltenbach Ltd has launched in the UK the completely new range of Behringer automatic CNC
bandsaws. With totally new styling and known as the HBV500A and HBV420A they are
straight-cutting, general purpose, high-performance, cost-efficient bandsaws. Material cutting
capacity for the HBV500A is ∅510mm, or 500mm x 500mm flat and the HBV420A is ∅420mm or
500 x 420 flat.
“These new HBV models” says Barry Rooney, Kaltenbach Ltd, Sales and Marketing Manager,
“Provide good value performance and cost-per-cut technology for a general mix of materials from
the exotic to regular steels and incorporate some sophisticated features as standard, that in the
past have typically been extras”.
Several features have been incorporated into the HBV through the experience gained from the highly successful
top-of-the-range, Behringer HBM range of bandsaws; the world’s fastest. This includes a fully enclosed housing
design, providing; extra safety, sound attenuation and swarf management benefits, making it a cost-effective
higher performance saw. Behringer IBC (Intelligent Blade Management) is also available to provide sophisticated,
automatic control, with manual override, of cutting accuracy parameters and the achievement of the best possible
blade life, with efficient cut cycle times.
The HBV has a heavy vibration free cast base and the familiar rigid Behringer ground twin-pillar design. An
enhanced swarf discharge efficiently clears swarf away from the cutting area, which is vitally important with
fast cutting rate metals such as aluminium.
An optional high performance ball screw servo down-feed provides greater control over the cutting process,
with significantly enhanced reaction speed and accuracy to changes in cutting conditions when compared to
conventional hydraulic systems. This leads to notable cut quality improvements and considerable increases
in overall blade life. Automated material feed is via a ball screw driven gripper system on the saws input,
with steplessly adjustable clamping force for softer materials. A number of bundle clamping options are also
available.
All instructions are keypad entered at the machines console, using Behringer’s simple to use control system;
enabling programming, in-cycle status display and adjustment and machine diagnostics. The system is further
enhanced with the addition of the IBC system to include among other features, Band Deviation Monitoring
and a programmable materials library with speed and feed presets.
