Kaltenbach Ltd announce a major new product introduction for the market leading range of Gietart shot blast machines. A totally restyled, completely new streamlined machine, with many new features and benefits was launched at the EuroBLECH 2006, in Hanover. The restyling of the entire range of Gietart automated roller conveyor shot blast machines has since been phased-in, with initial supply of the most popular models commencing during early 2007.

Simon Smith, Sales and Marketing Director in the UK for Kaltenbach Ltd said at the launch, ”From our 20 years of very successful association with Gietart and the many UK installations benefiting from combined Kaltenbach and Gietart expertise, this is the single most significant, shot blasting introduction, with initial customer response very positive”.

The new machines will eventually replace the current generation of most popular Gietart shot blasters and comprise 3 product groups named Sprint, Marathon and Triathlon, with 14 standard model options throughout the 3 groups. Sprint’s 4 models, the first to be available, will satisfy medium-duty capacities for plate, profiles and pipe, with an entry-level material capacity width of up to 1.6m, using 4 turbines, perpendicular to material transit. 5 Marathon models were available mid 2007, to suit heavier demand, faster conveyor speeds and using up to 8 turbines, with a material capacity of up to 4.5m wide. Triathlon’s 5 standard models will then follow, designed for shot blasting steel fabrications, as well as plate, profiles and pipe up to 4m wide x 1.6m high, using up to 16 turbines, diagonally orientated to material transit, ensuring total shot blast coverage, including angles and crevices. Customised alternatives are available for all models.

The new generation of machines have benefited directly from more than 60 years of experience and in-service feedback from some 1200 active Gietart installations worldwide. Operating performance and user-friendly machine maintenance, always a key factor in good shot blast machine design (with the shot blast process effectively trying to self-consume) have been at the forefront of the new designs. Reduced noise levels should remove the need for any added enclosure attenuation, achieving space and cost reductions. New updraft filter systems ensure even greater filter efficiency and ease of access and importantly improved dust distribution, enabling less frequent and easier routine maintenance. User-friendly side access doors have been added throughout the ranges, providing for example, open access to brush-off units and new, easy slide-out exposure of rubber curtains for inspection or replacement. New, combined shot-elevator and filter units will now be supplied to site as a single assembly, making installation easier, and even more cost-effective.

Kaltenbach also install, integrate and service Gietart automated paint lines and conveyor systems with Kaltenbach saw, drill and profiling lines.
